The climats map · Côte d'Or
This page shows the appellation vineyards of the Côte d'Or on top of satellite imagery. The buttons at the top of the panel switch to the other areas of Burgundy: Côte d'Or, Chablis, Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais. The boundaries are the official ones from INAO's Délimitation parcellaire des AOC viticoles (INAO is the French body that defines the appellations), updated on 21 September 2026.
Many vineyards may produce wines at several levels: a Premier Cru can also be declared as Village or Bourgogne. The map colours each parcel by its highest appellation and, when you click it, lists all the others that are allowed.
How to read it
Grand Cru : 32 appellations, 473 ha. The top of the pyramid, each vineyard with its own name.Premier Cru : 453 climats, 2,361 ha. The map is for information only and has no legal value. As INAO itself states, the official delimitations held by town halls and INAO prevail, and not every parcel delimitation has been digitised yet.
Boundaries are simplified by a few metres to keep the map light: to check a single parcel, turn on the Cadastre layer and click the vineyard.
Areas: the hectares shown for each climat, commune and class are delimited areas, i.e. the land INAO admits to the appellation. The delimited area does not necessarily match the planted area: it may include unplanted land, woods, roads and buildings.
Corton-Charlemagne, Charlemagne and Corton overlap: selecting one of these Grand Crus highlights its whole area, including where the map colours the land as a Corton climat.
Each area is coloured by the highest appellation allowed; lower appellations are listed in the card. Beaujolais and the Loire vineyards are not included.
Lieux-dits names inside Village and Grand Cru areas come from the cadastre (DGFiP) and are shown without accents; not every cadastral lieu-dit is a name used on labels.
Elevation, aspect and slope are estimates from a terrain model with a resolution of a few tens of metres.
Colour the map by: besides the classification, the map can show Elevation and Sun inside the vineyards, the latter being the potential clear-sky solar energy from April to October, computed pixel by pixel (about 13 m) from slope, aspect and shading by the surrounding terrain. They are terrain-model estimates, useful for comparing vineyards.
The parcel holder comes from the DGFiP file of legal entities: it appears only when the parcel belongs to a company or public body. The holder owns the land and is not necessarily who farms the vines or makes the wine (tenant farming and sharecropping are very common). Land owned by private individuals is not public and never appears.
Monopoles are climats wholly owned by a single domaine, according to public sources available in 2026; ownership may change over time.
